By clinging to animals, this ensures that the Harpagophytum plant spreads, which grows in the southern hemisphere where it used as part of traditional medicines. It is a stem found on the ground (Procumbens) bearing limbo ovoid leaves and purplish red trumpet flowers. It has deep roots that are divided into secondary roots to heavy tubers, which are used in pharmaceutical products.
For a long time, African sorcerers used the Harpagophytum plant to treat many different aches and pains. The beneficial properties are found in the root of the plant. Samples of this root were brought to Germany in 1904 by someone who witnessed "miraculous" healing in Namibia: the Harpagophytum procumbens made its debut in Europe for the benefit of all.
